Multivariate Test

An experiment that changes several elements at once (headline, image, CTA) and measures combinations. It needs more traffic than a simple A/B test.

Detailed explanation

A/B finds a winner on one change. Multivariate testing also looks for interactions: does the red button only win with the short headline? Combination count explodes sample-size needs.

On small sites MVT often dies unfinished. Run A/B on big levers (H1, offer) first, then MVT if volume allows.

Statistical power, other simultaneous changes, and seasonality distort results. Stopping early creates fake winners.

Frequently asked questions

Should MVT always replace A/B?
No. Low traffic favors A/B. MVT wants many combinations and high volume.
How long should it run?
Until the pre-calculated sample is reached, including weekday/weekend cycles. Do not call it on day two.

  • A/B TestAn A/B Test is an experiment method that shows two (or more) variants at the same time and compares which performs better using statistical evidence.
  • CROCRO (Conversion Rate Optimization) is the systematic process of testing and improving experiences so existing traffic converts at a higher rate.
  • Landing PageThe first page a visitor hits after an ad, email, or search click—built for one job. Unlike a homepage, it trades navigation clutter for a promise, proof, and a single call to action.
  • CTAThe button, link, or line that names the next step you want someone to take. Vague labels like “learn more” may collect clicks and still fail the conversion.
  • HeatmapA visual of click, scroll, or movement density on a page. It shows what people notice and what they ignore.
