B2B

A firm selling to another firm, where decisions usually sit with several people and a long cycle. Leads, content, and sales have to run the same story.

Detailed explanation

In business-to-business the buyer is often a committee: user, budget owner, legal. The cycle runs weeks or months; there is no one-click cart. Content, email, and the sales call have to repeat the same promise.

The mistake is reading B2B like a B2C last-click report and calling upper-funnel work a failure. Bloated forms and counting the wrong person as a lead also junk the pipeline. Hiding price behind one generic landing page misses intent.

Lock a lead definition (MQL/SQL), cycle time, and win rate. Read qualified opportunities and revenue, not sessions. Split landing pages by role and stage; one catch-all form will not carry the job.

Frequently asked questions

Does last click explain a B2B deal?
Rarely. Several people and a long cycle mean content, email, and sales touches have to be read together.
Is lead volume a sufficient goal?
No. Undefined form fills pad the pipe. The lead definition sales accepts, plus win rate, is the real bar.

  • B2CA firm selling to a person who will use the product, with shorter cycles and higher volume. Brand memory and immediate conversion pull on the same budget.
  • LeadA person who is not a customer yet but left enough contact—and permission—to start a conversation. Traffic is not a lead; a form, trial, or chat capture is.
  • Inbound MarketingAttracting people with useful content, guides, and email instead of interrupting them with ads they did not ask for. You can still buy traffic; trust accrues when the first touch helps.
  • ContentThe articles, videos, guides, and assets a brand publishes in search, email, social, or on-site. The job is to answer a question and earn the next step—not to fill a calendar.
  • Landing PageThe first page a visitor hits after an ad, email, or search click—built for one job. Unlike a homepage, it trades navigation clutter for a promise, proof, and a single call to action.
  • Value PropositionWho you help, which problem you solve, and what result they get. It is the broader page-level promise sitting next to a USP.
